The BYD Battery Box Premium HVB 2.97kWh Lithium Battery is the modular building block in BYD’s HVB high-voltage storage platform, designed for installers who need scalable capacity, strong safety credentials and long service life on residential and light commercial projects. Each 2.97 kWh, 51.2 V module (approx. 27.3 kg) is stacked vertically to form an HVB tower, with system sizes ranging from 5.94 kWh up to 29.69 kWh per tower and up to 89.07 kWh when three towers are connected in parallel.

Using Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cell technology developed in-house and proven in millions of BYD EVs, the HVB platform focuses on safety, reliability and stability. The solid die-cast casing and IP55 protection rating make it suitable for indoor or sheltered outdoor floor-standing installations, even in demanding environments and at altitudes up to 4,000 m. A round-trip efficiency of ≥95% and true high-voltage architecture help maximise usable energy and system efficiency across on-grid, backup and off-grid applications.
Performance is backed by strong electrical characteristics: towers support up to 50 A continuous and 98 A peak (15 s) charge/discharge current, with operating voltage windows tailored for modern high-voltage hybrid and battery inverters. The system works from –20°C to +50°C (with power derating at low temperatures), giving installers confidence in year-round operation across a wide range of sites.
For installation teams, the HVB is built for fast, repeatable deployment. A patented internal plug connection means modules simply stack and lock together, keeping external cabling to a minimum and enabling single-person handling thanks to the sub-30 kg module weight and tower height of under 1.33 m at maximum capacity. Smart battery management provides automatic state-of-charge adjustment, remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates, simplifying commissioning and long-term service. BYD underpins the system with a 15-year warranty, giving you a bankable, future-proof storage option to pair with premium PV systems.
