The SolarEdge S650A Power Optimizer is a short-string solution developed for small and multifaceted residential rooftops. Used as part of a SolarEdge DC-optimised system, the S650A allows an optimiser to be connected to each solar module, helping installers create flexible system designs while benefiting from SolarEdge's module-level optimisation technology.

When paired with a compatible SolarEdge Home Wave Inverter – Three Phase or SolarEdge Home Hub Inverter – Three Phase, the S650A supports strings from 10 modules, compared with a minimum of 14 modules stated for other SolarEdge Power Optimizers. This makes it particularly suitable for smaller roofs or installations where multiple roof orientations make conventional string design more challenging.

The S650A provides a maximum output voltage of 110V, increasing system design flexibility and helping reduce yield-factor losses on smaller installations. It is also compatible with a wide range of solar modules, including newer high-power modules, making it well suited to modern residential PV system designs.

Safety is enhanced through SolarEdge Sense Connect technology. This is designed to detect abnormal temperatures at the input and output connectors of the Power Optimizer and identify conditions that could lead to an electrical arc before an arc is created. The S650A also forms part of the wider SolarEdge Home ecosystem, allowing compatible systems to incorporate energy storage, EV charging and smart energy devices.

The S650A is compatible with specified SolarEdge Home Wave and Home Hub three-phase inverters running supported firmware. SolarEdge states that S650A Power Optimizers cannot be mixed with other optimiser models on the same inverter, so system compatibility should be checked during system design.
