The Victron MultiPlus-II 48/4k5/55-32 230V, Code PMP482405012 is a multifunctional inverter/charger designed for professional off-grid, backup and energy storage installations. Delivering 4.5 kVA / 4 kW of pure-sine power from a 48 V battery bank, it’s a compact all-in-one solution for residential systems, small commercial sites, marine applications and specialist vehicles where reliable 230 V AC is critical.
At the heart of the unit is a high-efficiency inverter (up to 95 % efficiency) coupled with a 55 A adaptive battery charger and a 32 A transfer switch. PowerControl lets you cap the available grid or generator current so that battery charging automatically backs off before overloading the supply. PowerAssist goes further by briefly adding inverter power to the incoming AC, helping smaller generators or limited grid connections support short-term peaks without nuisance tripping—valuable on constrained rural or temporary sites.
The MultiPlus-II is built for modern energy storage systems (ESS). It supports both DC-coupled (MPPT) and AC-coupled solar, allowing you to work with existing PV inverters as well as new charge controllers. With an external AC current sensor or energy meter, it can optimise self-consumption and help prevent unwanted export, making it ideal for backup-focused or self-use systems.
Two AC outputs simplify load management. The main output provides no-break transfer (<20 ms), keeping critical circuits and sensitive electronics running during an outage. The second output is only live when grid or generator power is present, so non-essential loads such as immersion heaters or EV chargers can be prevented from draining the batteries in backup mode.
For larger projects, up to three units can be configured for three-phase operation, and multiple MultiPlus-II devices can be paralleled to increase total system power—giving a straightforward upgrade path as your customer’s demand grows. Configuration can be done on site with VEConfigure and the MK3-USB interface, while Cerbo GX/Ekrano GX, the VRM portal and the VictronConnect app provide powerful remote monitoring, control and diagnostics for ongoing service contracts.
Housed in a robust steel IP21 enclosure with a wide operating temperature range from -40 °C to +65 °C (with fan-assisted cooling), the Victron MultiPlus-II 48/4k5/55-32 230V gives installers a dependable, configurable inverter/charger platform that’s easy to integrate, simple to support and ready for future system expansion.
